Amazon Aurora is taking hold and proving itself a high-value cloud database asset. Released in 2014 as part of Amazon’s RDS suite of relational databases, Aurora is a strong database engineered specifically for the cloud – with an eye to high-speed operation.
Aurora delivers significant performance benefits over MySQL by integrating the engine with a database-specific SSD storage layer. Designed to simplify costly implementations and operational requirements, Aurora automatically manages administrative activities like patching, backup and recovery point objectives. Scaling has been automated and simplified – just a few clicks and you can scale your storage and compute resources up or down as demand requires.
